The five-day tour for students, through Reggio Calabria, Scilla, Gerace, the Planetarium and more, kicks off.

Day 1 – Arrival and Tour Start

The tour begins with your arrival in Reggio Calabria. You will have time for a stroll along the Lungomare Falcomatà with a breathtaking view of the Strait of Messina. Especially at sunset, the sky and sea are tinged with wonderful colours. Dinner at the Hotel.

Day 2 – Scilla and Reggio Calabria

After breakfast, we will set off for Scilla, listed as one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, with its Ruffo Castle, ancient palaces, and the picturesque alleyways of the fishermen’s quarter of Chianalea. The tour will continue to Reggio Calabria with a visit to the National Archaeological Museum hosting Riace Bronzes of and many other exhibits of immense historical, artistic and archaeological value. Next is a visit to the Duomo, dedicated to Maria Santissima Assunta, the largest religious building in Calabria. Dinner at the Hotel.

Day 3 – Ecolandia and Pythagoras Planetarium in Reggio Calabria 

The itinerary continues to Ecolandia, a Technological and Environmental Recreational Park divided into four thematic areas (Air, Fire, Water and Earth) entirely dedicated to the great myths of Magna Graecia and applied ecology.

In the afternoon, get a full immersion into astronomy with a visit to Pythagoras Planetarium in Reggio Calabria and its fascinating stories. At the end, you may have an ice cream at Cesare: for 100 years, this ancient ice-cream parlour has been making true artisanal ice cream, using exclusively selected locally sourced ingredients. Dinner at the hotel.  

Day 4 – Gerace and the MuSaBa of Mammola

You will visit Gerace, the Enchanted Village, a splendid medieval village, and listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Highlights of this place are: the Castle of the Baglio, the Norman Cathedral standing out for its beauty and majesty, the Piazza delle tre Chiese (Square of the Three Churches), the Bombarde (with a splendid view of the entire Riviera dei Gelsomini) and its characteristic alleyways. The visit ends with a tasting of the famous granita of Gerace. The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting MuSaba in Mammola, a contemporary art park with numerous monumental and architectural works created by artists Nik Spatari and Hiske Maas. Among the many creations, inside the former church is “Jacob’s Dream”, better known as the “Sistine Chapel of Calabria”, a truly monumental work and a tourist attraction. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 – Bergamot and End of the Tour

In order to end the tour on a sweet note, before returning home, you will have the opportunity to taste bergamot, one of the area’s delicacies. 

The € 260 fee includes:

  • Hotel accommodation (half board, ½ mineral water + 1 drink) in Reggio Calabria,
  • 3 lunches in local restaurants with student menu (days 2, 3, and 4)
  • Local guides for visits included in the programme
  • Tasting of bergamot, ice cream at Cesare, and granita in Gerace
  • 1 free fee every 25 paying guests

The fee does not include:

  • Transfers included in the programme
  • Meals (except those mentioned above)
  • Admission tickets where applicable 
  • Tourist taxes
  • Whatever is not specified under ‘The fee includes’.
